We often think networking is to keep in touch (sometimes includes ass-kissing) with people who might do us favors someday. Totally, totally wrong. That is not networking, that is just us being selfish. Networking is the opposite of that. You meet many people, you stay in touch with some of them based on common grounds, you communicate with them on a regular frequency, help them as much as possible when they need you; this is what networking is. If you are doing all the work, how does networking help you? After taking care of these relationships and developing trust, one day they will do you favor spontaneously and eagerly when you need one. This is #networking.
